White River Heritage Trail Opposes Mounds Lake Reservoir Project

The following letter of support has been issued by the White River Heritage Trail organization on May 27, 2015:

The White River Heritage Trail opposes the unwarranted destruction of the ecological, cultural, and social heritage of the White River by the proposed Mounds Lake Reservoir.

The reservoir would destroy a State Nature Preserve fen in Mounds State Park (ecological heritage), threaten the nearby Mounds (cultural heritage), and destroy the history and memories of area residents by forcing relocation and forever changing the landscape that has been known as “home” to so many (social heritage).

We endorse economic development that preserves and celebrates the heritage of the White River, which we believe could best be accomplished by implementing the Mounds Greenway plan.
